Mission to Mars 2020 Nasa
Mars mission is like a dream mission of every country. Several attempt have been taken to reach mars, but only few of them reach on the mars . Till now only 4 country has reached on the mars . These are-
- NASA, United state America
- Roscosmos, Russia
- European space agency
- ISRO , India
India is the 1st country to reach mars on its 1st attempt .Recently , in 2020 three country are sending his mission to Mars.
These 3 mission are-
1.UAE’s Hope mission
2.China’s Tianwen -1 Mission
3.USA’s perseverance Mission
1. UAE’S Hope Mission |
IN BRIEF
1.Mission Name – Hope Mission
Mission Type- Mars Orbiter
Rocket Name- H-IIA
Space craft- Hope
Launch Date- 19 July 2020
Launch site- Tanegashima space center , Japan
Orbital Insertion- February 2021( Expected)
Operator- Mohammed bin Rashid Space center(MBRSC)
UAE’S hope mission is the 1st ever interplanetary mission to mars send by any Arab country in 19 July 2020 . UAE previously successfully launched 3 observation satellite , but it has not gone above the earth’s orbit.
The name Hope was chosen because it sends a message of optimist to millions of young Arabs . UAE send this mission with the help of Japan .
UAE’S Mission will not land on the mars, it revolves around the sun . The probe will orbit the mars & has instruments to study the atmosphere and monitor climate change on mars .
The UAE’S probe lifted by Japanese rocket H-IIA From the Tanegashima Space Center in southern Japan . Hope is estimated to reach mars on Feb 2021 .
UAE says it will provide a complete view of mars at least about 2 years . UAE spend $200 million to operate this mission .
KEY HARDWARE OF THE HOPE MISSION |
The measure instruments of the Hope are-
* FTIR scanning spectrometer
* A high resolution camera ,Exploration Image
Mars Infrared spectrometer
THE PROBE SIZE
Hope weights about 1500 kg and dimension is 2.37— 2.90m
KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE HOPE MISSION
It will study the Mars atmosphere & its interaction with solar winds .
It will collect data on mars climate dynamic which helps scientist to understand mars atmosphere.
Give information about climate change and also check the connection between present and previous climate of mars .
We hope the mission will be successful.

3.USA’s PERSEVERANCE MISSION |
 IN BRIEF
Mission Name- Mars Perseverance 2020
Launched On- July 30 , 2020
Location of Launch- Florida Air Force Station
Launching Rocket- Atlas V 541
Mission Duration – About 680- 690 Days
Landing Date – 18th February , 2021 (Excepting)
Landing Site- Jezero Crater
Space Craft – Persevarence Rover & Ingenuity Helicopter Drone
The NASA’S Perseverance Robert has left earth to detect life on Mars .It include 2 spacecraft , i.e- Perseverance rover & Ingenuity helicopter drone.
It is one of the best mission that are send to the mars . It was launched on July 30 , 2020 at Cape Canaveral in Florida & excepting to reach on Mars on Feb 18 ,2021 .
Perseverance is the 3rd mission to mars in 2020 after launch by UAE & China . Perseverance will spend about 2 Earth year ( 1 Martian year ) in Mars .
USA spend $2.4 billion dollar, that means 18 thousand crores in this mission .(India’s mars mission coasted around 500 crores) . The term Perseverance means Persistence in doing something .
KEY HARDWARE OF THIS MISSION
Perseverance carries seven instruments to study the mars surface at Jezero Crater . It carries 23 camera( Supercam , Mastcam-Z) in total and two microphones .
Mastcam-Z an advanced camera system with panoramic and stereoscopic imaging capacity with the ability of zoom. Super cam is an instrument that can provide imaging , chemical composition analysis and mineralogy at distance .
It also carry Planetary instruments for x-ray litho chemistry , Mars Environmental Dynamic Analyzer( a sensor that will provide measurement of temperature , humidity , wind speed etc at mars .
The ingenuity is solar powered drone which help perseverance to scout for location to study . The drone will expected to fly up to 5 minutes during its thirty day testing & will capable of flying 3 minutes per day .
ROVER SIZE AND DIMENSON
The Rover is about 10 feet Tall and 9 feet wide . The weight of the Rover is about 128 killogram.
KEY OBJECTIVE OF THIS MISSION
- To assess ancient habitability
- The Rover will gather rock and soil sample that could be returned to earth by future NASA mission
- Explore a geologically Diverse landing site
- Demonstrate technology for future robotic and human Exploration
We hope the mission will be successful .
