In a note to Monroe from Gifford being auctioned, he expresses regret for not being a good father to her.
The note is part of a larger collection of Monroe's personal possessions being auctioned off.
Other items being auctioned include her personal script from the movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and a collection of personal photographs.
Some of the items were sold for significant amounts of money, such as a dress worn by Monroe which sold for $280,000.
The auction was held by Julien's Auctions in 2018.
