• Learning is conducted via electronic media, typically on the internet.
• “Successful, E-Learning depends on the self-motivation of individuals to study effectively” in this aspect “E” should be interpreted to mean “Exciting, Energetic, Emotional, Extended, Excellent and Educational” in addition to Electronic.
• “E” should refer to “everything, everyone, everywhere, engaging, easy”.

Definition:

• E-Learning is learning techniques by utilizing electronic technologies to access educational curriculum outside of a traditional classroom.
• E-learning, also referred to as online learning or electronic learning, is the acquisition of knowledge that takes place through electronic technologies and media.
• In simple language, e-learning is defined as “learning that is enabled electronically”.
• E-Learning is the use of technology to enable people to learn anytime and anywhere.
• E-Learning includes training, the delivery of just-in-time information, and guidance from exports.
• E-Learning includes numerous types of media that deliver text, audio, images, animation, and streaming videos, and includes technology applications and process such as audio or video tap, satellite TV, CD-ROM, and computer-based learning as
well as local intranet/extranet and web-based learning.
• E-Learning uses technology to enhance and expand the learning experience. These technologies are use to create and deliver individualized, comprehensive dynamic learning contains that facilitates learning anytime and anywhere.

Characteristics of E-Learning:

1. Every e-learning course is created because there is a learning need.
2. An e-learning course is designed with one or more learning objectives in mind.
3. An e-learning course is created with a particular audience and its need in mind.
4. E-learning is created with the help of subject matter experts.
5. E-learning is self-paced and reaches a wider audience.
6. E-learning is connected to electronic media.
7. E-learning courses always have assessments.
8. The development of e-learning follows a streamlined process

Strategies of E-Learning:

There are millions of E-Learners around the world. Today’s E-Learners come from a wide variety of backgrounds and are of all ages. Most are working people who are trying to continue their education and improve their opportunities.

1. E-Learning requires motivation and self-discipline.
2. Define your goals and plan for success.
3. Incorporate work, life and other educational experiences as part of the learning process.
4. Be willing and able to commit adequate time to the E-Learning process.
5. Have access to the necessary equipment and create some personal space.

Benefits of Adamson E-learning. E-Learning:

1. E-Learning is student centered:
   • The learner is the core of any E-Learning system.
   • Material and activities are designed with the needs and interest of the learner in mind.
2. E-Learning is self-directed and self-paced:
   • Learners control the amount of time they spend on any particular topic. This allows learners to spend additional time on difficult items before move on.
   • This individualized approach usually allows learners to complete their education and training faster than in traditional courses.

Limitation of E-Learning:

1. Computer literacy and access to equipment:
   • The learner must have basic equipment and minimum level of computer knowledge in order to perform required by the system.
2. Some topics are not appropriate for E-Learning:
   • Certain subjects that are required physical extraction and practice such as sports and public speaking are not good candidates for E-Learning.
3. Students themselves can be limited to E-Learning:
   • It required a high level of student responsibility.{.}
   • A successful E-Learning student must be well organized, self-motivated, and good time management skills.
